The Soundtrack

I wrote this a few weeks ago on Instagram, but when I wrote this I decided to change things up a bit. I’ve talked about Kingdom Hearts, Halo, and Half Life already, which are really popular games, but what about lesser known indie games? With this page I wanted for people to discover games from their soundtracks, because that’s how I’ve found a lot of games. I decided I was going to talk about AER: Memories of Old, which was released 5 years ago the month I first wrote this article. I’m going to tell everyone a secret. Epic Games is always giving out free games. Some are more popular and big games that I’m surprised they’d give away for free, but often they’re more obscure. That’s how I found out about this game, which I probably would’ve never played if it weren’t free. This was unlike many games I’d played. Don’t come in expecting much challenge. It’s got a little bit of puzzle in it, but it’s mostly a nice and chill game with simple graphics and a really cool soundtrack. I’m not going to go through every track like I did for my last review, because honestly that would get really boring. Much of the soundtrack sounds similar, but it has this great ambient sound to it. It’s what I’d want to hear while dreaming and feeling like I’m floating in the air. When the soundtrack picks up is when you turn into an eagle and start flying in the air. The music sounds nice and open, which is fitting since this is an open world game. The flying music goes some interesting places, even including a banjo at one part, but it gives the feeling of being free and able to go anywhere. It gets a little bit dark as you encounter the evil towards the end, but most of the soundtrack is really relaxing to listen and dose off to, just like how the game is relaxing to play. There’s not a whole lot to the soundtrack, but it makes for a nice experience overall. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
